TOTAL Servings

  • 4 Idlis
  • 1 Cup Yellow Capsicum (chopped)
  • 1 Cup Green Capsicum (Shimla Mirch) (chopped)
  • 2 Tablespoons Oil for stir frying
  • Salt to taste

For sauce

  • 6 Whole Dry Red Chillies
  • 2 Tablespoons Soya Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Tomato Puree
  • 1 Tablespoon Vinegar
  • 1 Teaspoon Ginger paste
  • 2 Teaspoons corn starch
  • ½ Teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 Cup Water

  1. Boil the red chilies in about 1/2 cup of water until they are tender. Let it cool. Combine oil, soy sauce, vinegar, ginger, tomato paste, sugar, red chillies, corn starch in a blender and blend till it forms a smooth paste. You may add a little water if required while blending.
  2. Boil the sauce over medium heat. Sauce should be pouring consistency and set aside. Meanwhile, Cut the idlis into bite size pieces, I have cut the idlies in 6 pieces. Heat the oil in frying pan over medium high heat. Add idlis and sprinkle the salt. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until idlies are lightly golden brown, take them out and set aside.
  3. In the same pan stir fry bell pepper 2-3 minutes, do not overcook the bell pepper, they taste better when they are still crisp. Add the stir-fry idlis to bell peppers. Pour the sauce and mix well to ensure that idlis are coated well. Turn off the heat.Take them out in a serving bowl and serve hot!!!
