Recipe for Tofu and Vegetable Burger

A perfect healthy alternative for an all time fast food favorite. The shallow fried patty made using tofu and vegetable is beautifully sandwiched between a whole wheat burger bun. The cheese is missing, but we guarantee you won't miss it.

  • 1 Cup Carrots (गाजर) Finely Chopped
  • 1 Cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder (Lal mirch )
  • 1 Teaspoon Chaat Masala
  • 1 Teaspoon Dry Mango Powder (Amchur powder)
  • 1 Cup Tofu (Grated)
  • 5 Pieces Onion slices
  • 5 Pieces Tomtoes Sliced
  • 5 Pieces Whole Wheat Burger Buns
  • 2 Teaspoons Oil
  • Salt to taste


For the tofu patty

  1. Combine the french beans, cauliflower, green peas and carrots in a deep pan with enough water and boil. Drain and keep aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan.
  3. Add garlic, green chillies and ginger, saute for a few seconds.
  4. Add the boiled vegetables, potatoes, red chili powder, chaat masala, dry mango powder and salt. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Transfer the mixture into another bowl and let it cool.
  6. Add the breadcrumbs to the cooled mixture and mix well.
  7. Divide the mixture into 5 equal portions and shape each portion into a round and flat patty.
  8. Roast these on a non-stick pan using a little oil and keep aside.

To assemble the burger

  1. Slice the buns horizontally into 2 equal halves and warm them in a pre-heated oven at 150 degree celcius for 2 minutes.
  2. Place one lower half on a a clean dry surface.
  3. Place 1 lettue leaf, 1 tbsp low fat mayo and patty over it.
  4. Place slices of onions, tomatoes, capsicum and cover with the upper half of the bun facing downwards and press lightly.
  5. Serve with ketchup and french fries.
