Recipe for Healthy Wheat Malpuas

Malpua is a pancake served as a dessert or a snack, popular in India and Bangladesh. With this recipe you can create malpuas instantly and are also healthy.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 Cups Wheat Flour (Aata)
  • 1 Cup Water (पानी)
  • ¼ Cup Milk (Doodh)
  • 2 Cups Castor Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Fennel seeds (powder)
  • 2 Tablespoons Ghee
  • Salt to taste

For garnishing

  • Cashwenuts (Kaju) (chopped)
  • Almonds (chopped)

METHOD

To make the batter

  1. Mix wheat flour, sugar, salt and fennel seeds (saunf) in a Bowl.
  2. Add milk and mix well.
  3. Start adding water slowly while also mixing the ingredients to slowly form batter

To cook malpuas

  1. Heat Ghee in a shallow non-stick pan and keep the gas on a medium flame.
  2. Spread the batter like a thick dosa or pancake.
  3. Add more ghee on the malpua and let it cook till more 30 seconds or till its base is properly cooked.
  4. Turn around the malpua and cook it again for more 30 seconds.
  5. Garnish the malpua with almonds and cashewnuts and serve hot.
