Recipe for American Chopsuey

American Chopsuey is a delightful preparation of noodles and vegetables in a indo-chinese style tangy sauce garnished with fried noodles. Serve it as a side dish in your chinese menu or have it all by itself for a light lunch or dinner.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Cup Noodles (boiled)
  • ¼ Cup Carrots (गाजर) (cut into juliennes)
  • ¼ Cup French Beans (फ्रेंच बीन्स) (cut into slant ways)
  • 1 Cup Cabbage (Patta gobi) (shredded)
  • ¼ Cup Green Capsicum (Shimla Mirch) (sliced)
  • 1 Teaspoon Chilli Sauce
  • 4 Tablespoons Tomato Ketchup
  • 3 Tablespoons Soya Sauce
  • ½ Teaspoon Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons White Vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons Corn flour (dissolved in 2 tbsp of water)
  • Salt to taste
  • Fried Noodles (for garnishing)
  • 2 Tablespoons Oil

METHOD

  1. Heat oil in a wok. To it add all the vegetables and saute.
  2. Add the chilli sauce, tomato ketchup, soya sauce, sugar, white vinegar, salt and noodles. Mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 - 3 minutes.
  3. Add the corn flour-water mixture, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 - 3 minutes or till it thickens.
  4. Serve hot garnished with fried noodles.
