Recipe for Bajra na Muthiya

This is a traditional gujrati healthy snack which is also good to have post pregnancy. In the recipe the mixture of cereal and pulses makes it a good source of protein. Bajra promotes breast feeding as it acts as a galactogogue. It’s easy to digest.

INGREDIENTS

  • ¾ Cup Dudhi
  • ½ Cup Spinach
  • 1 Tablespoon Bajra flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Jowar flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Chana Dal (Chana Dal) (flour)
  • ¼ Teaspoon Salt (नमक)
  • ¼ Teaspoon Green chilli paste
  • ¼ Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • ½ Teaspoon Dhania Jeera Powder
  • ¼ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • ¼ Teaspoon baking soda (optional)
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Oil
  • 1 Teaspoon Lemon juice

METHOD

  1. Grate the dudhi and finely chop the palak.
  2. Now add all the spices in this mixture including oil and sugar and mix it properly,then add all the three flours.
  3. Then make a soft batter of all of these ingredients and make cylindrical roll, place these rolls in a steamer keep the muthiyas for steaming for 15 minutes.
  4. Then after steaming the muthiyas let it cool down for 15 mins and then add til on top of it, serve immediately.
