Recipe for Dal Pandoli

Pandoli is a gujrati snack cooked in a unique style in a double boiler. The spinach added in the recipe makes the pandolis colourfull and intersting. Many other green leafy vegetables can also be added in the recipe. This is the best steamed snack recipe.

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ Cup Cow pea (chola dal)
  • ½ Cup Spinach (chopped)
  • 2 Teaspoons Green Chillies (Hari Mirch) (finely chopped)
  • 2 Tablespoons Curd (dahi)
  • Asafoetida a pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 Teaspoon Fruit Salt

METHOD

  1. Wash and soak the dal in enough water for 3 hours. Drain well
  2. Combine the dal, spinach, green chillies, curd and one tabelsoopn of water and blend it together in a mixer till smooth.
  3. Transfer in a bowl and add asafoetida and salt, mix well.
  4. Add the fruit salt over the batter and mix gently.
  5. Tie a muslin cloth in a deep bowl which is half filled with water and heat till water boils.
  6. Put spoonfull of the batter on the muslin cloth at regular intevals.
  7. Cover the vessle with a dome shaped lid and steam the pandolis for 5-7 minutes.
  8. Serve immediately
