Recipe for Chocolate walnut barfi

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Cup Dark Chocolate (roughly chopped)
  • ¼ Cup Walnuts (Akhrot) (chopped)
  • 1½ Tablespoons Milk (Doodh)
  • ¼ Cup Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Oil
  • ½ Cup Khoya

METHOD

  1. Grease a small square tin (6''x6'') with oil.
  2. Grate khoya. Heat a non stick pan, add grated khoya and roast for four to five mins or till it gets soft.
  3. Add chopped walnuts to the mixture and mix well.
  4. Add sugar to the khoya walnut mixture and mix well.
  5. Add milk to the mixture and cook till it thickens.
  6. Divide equally into 3 parts. Keep aside.
  7. Melt dark chocolate in a double boiler. Keep aside till it comes to room temperature.
  8. Keep ¼ cup of melted chocolate aside for garnish.
  9. Mix the remaining chocolate with one part of khoya mixture.
  10. Spread one part of the plain khoya mixture evenly onto the greased tin.
  11. Then, evenly spread the chocolate khoya mixture over and finally top with the remaining plain khoya mixture.
  12. Place in the refrigerator to cool for about 30 mins.
  13. When completely cooled, pour the remaining melted chocolate over the burfi. Refrigerate for another 10 mins and then cut into 16 square pieces.
